EYYES introduces Layer Processing Unit (LPU)
The ground-breaking concept allows significantly more computation operations simultaneously, thus achieving the same performance at much lower frequencies. As a consequence, memory requirements to store temporary computational results are reduced a lot compared to GPU and TPU.
With the RTI 3.0 EYYES offers the first SOM board working on an LPU unit in a FPGA achieving up to 20 TOPS on a module just 7×6 cm in size, outperforming well known manufacturers while consuming much less power.
Future applications of this at the edge piece of technology are countless, covering a wide field of object detection within safety critical environments (robotics, production, vehicles of all kind), traffic environments, blind spot assistance systems, front collision warning as well as ADAS and lane tracking.
