Private brewery Zwettl relies on technology from EYYES
Compared to 2020 and 2021, there was a sad record increase of +21% in fatal accidents involving cyclists in Austria, the highest value in 30 years. Many of these accidents happen when turning trucks overlook bicycles in the blind spot – safe turn assistance systems can save lives here!
The CarEye® Safety Angle (CSA for short) from EYYES is able to accurately detect and predict the direction of movement of pedestrians, cyclists and objects. It warns drivers acoustically and visually in real time (signal strategy according to UNECE R151, Blind Spot Information System, with yellow and red warning light) before a possible collision occurs and remains operational even in the most adverse light and weather conditions. At the same time, false alarms are minimised because it distinguishes between moving and static objects (bollards, trees, etc.) and only triggers an alarm in case of actual collision hazards, but not in non-hazardous situations (e.g. parallel straight ahead).

Greatest possible safety without false alarms for the driver
“The CSA is the best turn-off assistance system on the market, because its AI actively detects vulnerable road users and their direction of movement in a significantly extended blind spot monitoring area that is up to five times larger. A whole four metres wide and ten metres long on the side of the vehicle can be covered in this way, which no comparable system can achieve. This means that the CSA can reliably detect cyclists even in the second row behind parked vehicles,” says Dr. Wolfgang Domann, Managing Director of EYYES GmbH.
The system can be retrofitted to all vehicles and can be easily installed in the workshop responsible for the customer. The private brewery in Zwettl is equipping ten vehicles in its fleet with the EYYES turn-off assistant. All systems will be installed and commissioned by Raiffeisen-Lagerhaus in Zwettl as an official MAN service partner.
“We see it as our duty to identify and eliminate potential sources of danger in the long term! The right turn assistant reliably provides the driver with the message at the moment of danger – this can be life-saving! Of course, the turn-off assistant also gives the driver peace of mind and helps him to do his job at the wheel in the best possible way,” confirms logistics manager of the Zwettl private brewery Franz Kolm.
In its test, the ADAC focused on everyday scenarios and real traffic situations. It tested not only the detection range of the systems, but also whether unprotected road users in the second row behind obstacles can be detected and whether false warnings occur that reduce the acceptance of drivers.
The CarEye® Safety Angle mastered all requirements best and emerged as the clear test winner. From September 2021, the EYYES turn-off assistant will also be available in a new version (TASET002), which is cheaper and even easier to install.
